Welcome to Arctic Video Player ("we", "our", "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our video player application (the "App").

Important Note: Arctic Video Player is designed to respect your privacy. We do NOT collect, upload, or store your personal videos, photos, or media files on any external server. All video playback happens locally on your device.

We collect very limited information to ensure the App functions properly and to improve your experience.

a. Local Media Files (Videos & Thumbnails)

To display your video library and play videos, the App scans your device's internal storage, external SD card, and USB OTG drives for video files. This includes:

• Video file names, paths, durations, sizes, and metadata.
• Video thumbnails (generated locally on your device).

All this data remains on your device. We never upload, share, or transmit your video files or thumbnails to any server or third party.

b. Device Information (via AdMob)

We use Google AdMob to serve advertisements. AdMob may automatically collect:

• Device model, OS version, screen size.
• Advertising ID (resettable by the user).
• IP address (for ad targeting and fraud prevention).
• App usage data (limited to ad interactions).

This data is collected and handled by Google according to their Google Privacy Policy. We do not receive your personal identity from this data.

c. App Preferences (Local Storage)

Your settings (e.g., hidden folders preference, chosen screenshot method, default video player) are stored locally on your device using Android's DataStore. We do not sync or upload these preferences.

We require certain permissions to provide core video player functionality. Here's why each permission is needed:

• READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required to scan and display video files stored on your device, SD card, or USB drives.
• WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Needed to perform file operations such as renaming video files and deleting videos from storage (including SD card and USB drives when applicable).
• MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Full Storage Access): Used to access video files on external USB drives (OTG) and all folders on Android 11+. We only access video files, not other personal documents unnecessarily.
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE / POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to generate video thumbnails in the background efficiently without blocking the UI. A notification is shown while thumbnail generation is active.
• INTERNET: Required only for displaying AdMob advertisements. No video content or personal data is uploaded.
• QUERIES (in manifest): Allows the App to detect installed video player apps so you can choose an external player if desired.

You can change or revoke these permissions at any time via your device's Settings app.

• ✅ To play videos you select using the built-in player or external apps.
• ✅ To remember your app preferences (e.g., hidden folders, screenshot method).
• ✅ To show relevant advertisements that support free development of the App.
• ❌ We do NOT upload, sell, or share your video files.
• ❌ We do NOT track your location or browsing history.
• ❌ We do NOT collect contact list, call logs, or SMS.

Our App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect data to provide personalized or non-personalized ads based on your device's advertising ID and general location (country level).

You can opt out of personalized advertising by resetting your Advertising ID in Google Settings or enabling "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android.

GDPR & CCPA Compliant For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, AdMob will request consent for personalized ads where required by law.

All video data, thumbnails, and app settings are stored locally on your device only. We do not maintain any servers or databases containing your video information. Since data never leaves your device, the risk of external data breach is minimal.

However, please note that no security system is 100% foolproof. If your device is compromised, your locally stored video files could be at risk. We recommend keeping your device's OS and security patches up to date.

Our App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information from our systems (though note we don't actually collect such data).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App and the "Last Updated" date will be revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access – Request a copy of data we hold about you (though we don't store personal data).
• Delete – Request deletion of your data (uninstalling the App removes all local preferences).
• Opt-out of personalized ads – Via Android's Advertising ID settings.

Since we collect no personal data to external servers, exercising these rights typically requires no action from us beyond what your device already controls.
